Design and Development Engineer

We have an immediate opening for an engineer to handle all aspects of the custom design, testing and manufacturing of complex mechanical seal systems and precision components for rotating equipment used in the aerospace, nuclear, chemical, petrochemical, and marine industries. Position engages all aspects of mechanical engineering design skills (mechanics, fluid dynamics, heat transfer, materials, etc.) and interfaces directly with manufacturing and test lab to see product through from concept to delivery

Requirements:

  • BSME + minimum (5) years combined experience in product design, development, testing and project management
  • Computer skills in MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering prints/specifications and Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams [P&ID]
  • Strong engineering application and analytical skills
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational and time-management skills
  • Ability to travel to customers and suppliers (up to 15% travel)

Desirable (not required)

  • Experience in the design of rotating equipment
  • 2D sketching and 3D modeling experience
  • Experience with Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and/or Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) software
  • Familiarity with API-682, API-610, and ASMEB73.1 standards
  • Experience working in an ISO 9001 or AS 9100 work environment.

Project Manager

We have an immediate opening for an engineer to manage projects supplying mechanical seal systems, precision components and other services for rotating equipment used in the aerospace, nuclear, chemical, petrochemical, power generation and marine industries. Accountabilities of this position follow:

  • Proactively analyze technology, resources, and market demands to plan and assess projects for Stein Seal to pursue and execute
  • Through coordination with the customer and departments throughout Stein Seal, organize and execute projects to customer and Stein Seal agreed upon deadlines and budgets
  • Cultivate positive working relationship with customers
  • Work with other departments to develop project quotes and budgets
  • Work with the quality department to ensure products and services meet all customer and Stein Seal requirements and that quality documentation is complete and adequate
  • Oversee design and drafting work in the engineering department related to products and testing
  • Coordinate with various departments throughout Stein Seal to plan, design, manufacture, execute, and analyze in support of product testing
  • Coordinate and participate in customer/supplier visits (and visits to the customer/supplier) for technical discussion, audits, production releases, etc.
  • Manage the collection and dissemination of technical information between/within Stein Seal and customer

Requirements include:

  • BSME, BSEE or equivalent experience required
  • Project management experience or PMP certification
  • Computer skills in MS Word, Excel, Project and PowerPoint
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering prints/specifications, Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams [P&ID], and electrical schematics
  • Strong engineering application and analytical skills
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational and time-management skills
  • Ability to travel to customers and suppliers (up to 15% travel)

Desirable (not required)

  • Experience in the design of rotating equipment
  • Experience in the nuclear power plant industry
  • Experience in product testing
  • Exposure to tooling and manufacturing environment
  • Experience working in an ISO 9001 or AS 9100 work environment.
